The new NU1XA takes hybrid pianos to a whole new level, incorporating new technologies that will enhance your playing like ever before on a digital instrument..

NEW ARTICULATION SENSOR SYSTEM

As with other AvantGrand models, the new NU1XA incorporates real piano action. However, the new Articulation Sensor System accurately and continuously captures the pianist’s subtlest performance nuances, through non-contact electromagnetic sensors and Yamaha's proprietary algorithm. And it now uses two separate sensors on each key: one for the hammer and one for the key.

GRANDTOUCH^TM PEDALS

The damper pedal on a grand piano responds with slightly different resistance to the player’s foot on each point of its range. The GrandTouchTM Pedals adopt a fulcrum structure similar to that of a grand piano, delivering the same expressive and familiar pedal pressing feel, and further expanding the performance range.

UPGRADED PIANO SOUND

The NU1XA lets you enjoy playing with the voices of the CFX, Yamaha’s top-flight concert grand piano and the piano of choice at competitions around the world, and the warm tones of the Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano, all on a single instrument.

The new samples will give the player an even fuller sound than ever before.

IT’S MORE THAN “JUST” THE SOUND

The richness of the NU1XA’s sound doesn’t rely on great piano samples. It also uses unique technologies to deliver rich and delicate expressiveness.

Grand Expression Modeling technology accurately simulates the complex interplay between player and instrument, reproducing the same limitless tonal variation of a grand piano.

Then, Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) faithfully reproduces the extraordinarily complex resonances in a grand piano that are created by the sympathetic vibration of the strings and soundboard.

RESONANCE THAT FILLS EVERY SPACE

In order to faithfully reproduce the unique sonic experience created with a grand piano, the NU1XA employs a new sound system. It features upward-facing woofers that deeply resonate throughout the instrument and tweeters with a newly designed horn structure that resonate in the high frequencies with the front and back of the instrument. 

THE BEST SOUND, EVEN WITH HEADPHONES

By using special microphones at the player’s position when recording the piano samples, Binaural Sampling technology effectively reproduces the sensation of hearing an acoustic piano in front of you as you play. You can now enjoy Binaural Sampling, not only on the CFX voice, but also on the Bösendorfer! 

NEW DESIGN AND USER INTERFACE

By incorporating graceful curves from the side arms to the legs, the NU1XA evokes timeless beauty while radiating the elegance of an acoustic piano.

To contribute to this design, the new touch-sensitive control panel allows you to operate the piano and disappears when not in use
